One way or another, they all personify Fall 2019 beauty trends—as told by hair expert Philip Pelusi.

Hyaluronic acid, ceramides, UV filters and vtamins, just to name a few, were ingredients once only reserved for skin care but today are all the rage in the hair care marketplace and being written about in blog after beauty blog. But this is not foreign territory to us at Philip Pelusi. We’ve been integrating skincare ingredients in our haircare formulas since day one. And with good reason. We have always believed that a healthy scalp is the precursor to every great head of hair. And especially since the scalp is an extension of our forehead, it seems natural to treat it in a similar way to our face or body. And with hair and skin both containing keratin, enhancing it with the same ingredients makes sense. So, skin-ovating one’s haircare routine makes for a great foundation for this season’s hottest hair trends; Disco Waves, The Blunt Bob and Living Coral Hair Color. Living Coral Hair Color What hues come to mind when thinking of living coral in the ocean or the sky on the horizon as the sun sets? That beautiful pink-orange sorbet color, intense but soft. Living Coral is Pantone’s 2019 Color of The Year and is also one of this Fall and Winter’s most popular hair color trends. Seen on stars like Rhianna, Julia Roberts and Busy Philipps, its fresh and new and depending how warm or cool the color is steered, it can be worn on just about any skin tone. But because this is a double process color, bleaching or lifting color is necessary before toning with the Living Coral hue, hair will need some extra TLC to help maintain the pigment. And here is where some skincare technology via haircare will do the trick. Once only used for high-end skin treatment products, Ceramides play a huge role in helping lock in color molecules and help protect the integrity of the hair. We created our proprietary Hydro-Charged Pelusi Ceramide Complex, Patent Pending, to help rebuild, strengthen, moisturize and seal in color. It’s present in all P2 by Philip Pelusi Ultimate Shampoos, Conditioners and Smart Styling Treatments and benefits all hair textures. Hyaluronic Acid, now being pronounced phonetically by a famous actress in a mass brand skincare commercial, slowly saying “hya-lur-on-ic acid”, as if it is a newly found ingredient. Almost 50 years ago, we put this moisture binding powerhouse in our P2 Deep Hydrating Hair and Scalp Treatment and P2 Lite Leave In Conditioner. And although both formulas have been continually enhanced over the years, we offer this treatment mask and hydrating mist, a concept once only reserved for skincare products, to help improve the condition of the hair and scalp. Hyaluronic Acid delivers and binds moisture to virtually any surface it has been applied to, meaning it can be a huge moisture replacement ingredient for double processed hair such as in the Living Coral Hair Color trend. Ultra Violet Light Filtersare another category of ingredients once only thought of for preserving the skin on the face and body. But hair can get a “sunburn” as well causing dryness, color loss and breakage. UV rays degrade the hair fabric creating faults in the cuticle through which color molecules can escape. So why reserve daily sun protection for face or body only? There are hair-specific Ultra-Violet Light Filters in every Philip Pelusi product, making them a must for anyone investing in a color service. Specifically, our P2 Potion, one of our most widely used sun protecting products, contains our proprietary Pelusi Hair Matrix Blend of 6 Herbals with UV protective properties, Matricaria, Asafetida, Horseradish, Sage, Blackberry and Grape Seed, that also run throughout many other products in our P2 line. Disco Waves Get your hair groove on this season with the big hair texture trend for this Fall and Winter season, Disco Waves. These take many forms; from natural waves and curls, to curls set on hot rollers, to iron-crimped waves, to finger waves. This trend can be worn on any length or density hair type but works best on shoulder length or longer hair. And whether the curl is natural or is artificially created via heat tools, frizz and heat damage are two things we can help avoid with an injection of some skincare ingredients into the hair styling routine. Hydrating Oils are everywhere these days when it comes to skincare products. And we have a haircare hydrating equivalent with our P2 Polish and P2 Brilliant Hair. Both contain our proprietary Pelusi Bio Polymer Complex consisting of Organic Baobab Seed Protein and Organic Baobab Seed Oil. Our sustainably derived Organic Baobab Oil is cold-pressed, retaining its beneficial value during processing, to hydrate, create shine and deliver thermal protection to the hair and scalp. Harvested from the Baobab Tree, also known as the Tree of Life, it is rich with Vitamin D3 and 5 Essential Fatty Acids, ingredients once only reserved when speaking about skincare products. Both P2 Polish and P2 Brilliant Hair can be applied to both wet and dry hair. Reserve P2 Polish for coarser, thicker hair types while P2 Brilliant can used universally by everyone. Antioxidants and Vitaminsare essential to any good skincare routine, often reserved for facial serums and treatments, and touted as ingredient warriors fighting against free radical pollutants that break down the integrity of the skin. They do the same for the scalp and hair fabric as well as help protect against the oxidation of hair color which results in faded, dull looking hair. Vitamins C, E and A, Sunflower, Lemongrass, Green Tea and aforementioned Pelusi Hair Matrix Blend are just a few of the many antioxidants and vitamins threaded throughout our P2 product line working to protect and fortify the hair and scalp. The Blunt Bob It seems everyone in Hollywood is wearing what seems to be the hottest haircut for 2019, The Blunt Bob. Fashion icons and stars such as Naomi Watts, Khloe Kardashian, Lucy Hale, Mandy Moore, Kristen Bell, Ayesha Curry and so many more are all sporting this easy to wear and even easier to style trend. Show off this almost solid and symmetrical shaped haircut with a solid hair color with little to no highlights. But don’t forget the shine! Critical to this trend is healthy looking hair with a deep luster. Ceramides again play an important role here with the Blunt Bob. Found in our P2 Long gev ity Shampoo and P2 Long gev ity Conditioner via our Patent Pending Hydro-Charged Pelusi Ceramide Complex, they help build volume while sealing down the cuticle layer of the hair helping create a smooth and shiny looking blown out bob. And a sealed cuticle is another defense against color loss, so the benefits of ceramides in haircare are far reaching. Another key to a lush healthy head of hair is a deep cleanse. Just like in skincare, sometimes we need a remedy to manage an overly oily scalp. We created our P2 Detox Shampoo Treatment containing a proprietary oil-reducing micro-emulsifier, with the Philip Pelusi Rocket Ivy Blend. You get a deep but gentle cleanse and with the Ph balancing ingredients in the Philip Pelusi Rocket Ivy Blend, Rocket Leaf, Whortleberry, Ivy and Watercress, a cleaner scalp throughout the day helping hair stay fluffy and full of body. Salicylic Acid,a beta-Hydroxy acid used frequently in skincare to help exfoliate dulling surface dead skin cells, can also give hair a boost in volume while helping create a healthy scalp environment. So, we created an anti-flaking shampoo containingthis skincare ingredient marvel, our P2 Exfoliating Shampoo Treatment, along with other skin enhancing ingredients such as Marsh Plant. Salicylic Acid works gently to lift off dry or oily flakes and other residues producing a healthier scalp condition and allow better penetration of beneficial ingredients. And lastly, just like a facial but instead for the scalp, we offer a wide variety of Philip Pelusi Spa Hair Therapy Treatments from our Clarifying Treatment to DeTox Treatment to our Color Protection Treatment and many more. Each are designed to help manage specific hair and scalp issues while they all strengthen, hydrate and protect. Our guests can choose from a menu of choices along with the recommendations of our Skill Certified Philip Pelusi Stylists. For product recommendations and more information go to www.philppelusi.com
